JAMMU, May 31: The players and officials showed extraordinary guts and grit on day-2 of the State Open Badminton Championship as 31 matches of the preliminary round were decided in the three age groups of under-10, under-13 and under-15 years both boys and girls sections at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
Since a good number of boys and girls have registered themselves for more than one age category, the number of matches has increased. However, the technical panel expects advanced stages matches on the third day tomorrow.
The Results (preliminary rounds):
Under-10: BOYS: Gopesh Singh beat Chirag 21-10, 21-08; Kavin drubbed Kartik 21-01, 21-07; Shuvansh Pandotra trounced S Sharma 21-15, 21-19; Harsh Sharma outplayed Akshit 21-07, 21-06. GIRLS: Ibaadat Singh got the better of Ananya Kumari 21-10, 21-18; Avnika beat Rudrakhsi 21-15, 21-17; Suhani trouced Jayana Chopra 21-03, 21-04.
Under-13: GIRLS: Akriti Thakur outplayed Sanvi Gupta 21-13, 21-13; Anshima Mahajan defeated A Kotwal 17-21, 21-19, 21-18; Suhani Sharma bt H Anand 21-03, 21-02; S Sharma bt Xenia Nagpal 21-06, 21-02; Kumari Arti bt Samaniay Sharma 23-21, 21-16.
