Players continue to vie for titles in Inter Collegiate Tournaments

JAMMU, Sept 19: Players continue to vie for the titles in the ongoing Inter Collegiate Badminton, Cricket, Handball and Kho-Kho Tournaments, being organized by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education University of Jammu at different venues in the varsity campus here today.
In Badminton (men), GDC Udhampur, GDC Nowshera, GCET Jammu and GDC Kathua sailed into semis by outplaying ASCOMS, GDC Paloura, GDC Samba and GDC Rajouri respectively, whereas in women category, GDC Kathua, PG Department and GDC Akhnoor sealed berth in the semifinals by defeating Dogra Degree College, GCW Kathua and Dogra College of Education respectively.
The matches were officiated by Sat Pal Sharma, SAI Coach, Vikram Saini, SAI Coach, Ravish Vaid, Sanjeev Sharma, Jeevan Lal, Tarvinder Pal Singh, Shivam Sharma, Buneet, Gourav and Rohit.
In Cricket, GDC Samba defeated ASCOMS by 1 run, GDC Doda registered win over Bhaskar Degree College by 18 runs, Bhargav Engineering College Samba outplayed Dogra Law College by 5 wickets and GDC Akhnoor outclassed GMC Jammu by 1 run.
Final line-up has been drawn in the ongoing Handball Tournament.
In women section, GCW Udhampur beats GCW, Parade by 9-4 goals and won the semifinal match. GCW Udhampur will now lock horns with PG Department in the final match.
In men section, GDC Kathua beats GDC Hiranagar by 8-4 goals and sailed into the final. The final match in men section will be played between PG Department and GDC Kathua tomorrow.
Earlier, Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu interacted with the players of GCW Parade and GCW Udhampur and witnessed the whole match.
The matches were officiated by Sudesh Kumar, Gourav Sharma, Vinay Sharma, Karun Magotra, Priya Devi and Vipen Photra.
In Kho-Kho (women), PG Department will take on GCW Parade in the final. Earlier in the first semis, PG Department beats GCW Udhampur by 1 point (4-3) and in the second semis, GCW Parade beat GCW Kathua by 6 points (9-3).
In Kho-Kho (men), GDC Samba will lock horns with GDC Kathua in the final. Earlier, GDC Samba beat GDC RS Pura by 1 point (13-12) in the first semis and in the second semifinal match, GDC Kathua beat GDC Udhampur by 2 points (9-7).
The matches were officiated by Ajay Gupta, Anil Sharma, Dhiraj Sharma, Raman Kalaria, Jagdev Singh, Palbinder Singh, Anil Kumar, Shibal Bhau, Surbhi Avtal, Pooja Sharma, Mohammad Israr and Gagan Kumar.
