Physical Education Department enters cricket final

JAMMU, Apr 27: Outplaying the Department of Mathematics by 4 wickets in the semifinal, the Department of Physical Education, University of Jammu entered the finals of the Inter-Department Cricket Tournament at University grounds, here today.
Earlier, batting first, Mathematics Department scored a decent total of 160 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 6 wickets in the process. Sumeet top scored with 50 runs, while Sultan contributed 45 runs to the total. Arun and Ashish chipped in with 23 and 10 runs respectively. For Physical Education, Rahul took 2 wickets, while Vinay, Charanjeet and Mehmood claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Physical Education Department chased the target in 19.3 overs by losing 6 wickets to win the match by 4 wickets. Rahul Sahrma played a brilliant innings of 92 runs off 48 balls, while Vinay Manhas contributed 33 runs to the total. Manoj took 2 wickets from Mathematics Department, while Sultan claimed one.
In another match, Law Department defeated TBS by 52 runs in an easy contest to qualify for the semifinals.
Batting first, Law scored a mammoth total of 209 runs, with Arun Singh (73), Shahroz Malik (65) and Varun (21) being the main scorers. For TBS, Pankaj took 2 wickets, while Nirbhay and Vishav claimed one.
In reply, TBS managed to score 157 runs to lose the match by a big margin of 52 runs. Rukmesh was the wrtecker-in-chief for Law Department, who claimed 4 important wickets, while Ankush, Rohit and Jyoti claimed one wicket each.
The matches were officiated by Suresh Singh, Opinder Singh, Vijay Dogra, Raj Kumar Bakshi and Manu Khajuria.
