JAMMU, Mar 14: The Departments of Physical Education and Mathematics scripted resounding victories in the Inter-Department Cricket Tournament, organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at Varsity grounds, here.
In the first match, Physical Education Department defeated Dogri Department by 9 wickets in a one-sided contest.
Earlier, batting first, Dogri Department scored just 37 runs in the stipulated 10 overs. Parveen top scored with 15 runs. For Physical Education, Arvind took 3 wickets, while Nadeem and Ajaz bagged 2 wickets each.
In reply, Physical Education Department chased the target easily in 3.4 overs by losing 1 wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Rashpal and Waqar scored 16 and 14 runs respectively. Ranjeet took the lone wicket to fall.
In another match, Math Department defeated Commerce Department by 48 runs. Batting first, Math Department scored a decent total of 92 runs in the stipulated 10 overs. Arjun Singh and Sumit Sharma contributed 32 and 23 runs to the total respectively. Ayush took 3 wickets for Commerce, while Gulzar and Mehmood claimed 2 wickets each.
In reply, Commerce Department managed to score 44 runs in the allotted 10 overs by losing 6 wickets, thus lost the match by a margin of 48 runs. Ayush was the top scorer with 24 runs. Arjun Singh took 2 wickets, while Sunny and Vivek claimed one wicket each.
The matches were officiated by Raman Kumar, Vijay Dogra, Rahul Sharma, Mukesh Sharma, Vinay Manhas and Rajkumar Bakshi.
