PG Deptt, GDC RS Pura script wins in Kho-Kho

JAMMU, Dec 2: PG Department of Jammu University lifted Kho-Kho women title, while GDC RS Pura won the Men’s title of the Inter-Collegiate Kho-Kho Championship, organised by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education of University of Jammu, here today.
In Men’s category, the final match was played between GDC RS Pura and GDC Udhampur wherein former outplayed the latter by 2 points. Manpreet Singh, Neeraj Kumar of GDC RS Pura showed outstanding performance and led the team towards victory whereas Mohd Farhan and Ankush Sharma also played well for GDC Udhampur.
In Women’s category, the final match was played between PG Department and GDC Kathua in which PG Department defeated GDC Kathua by 8 points wherein Sapna Devi and Toshi Devi of PG Department displayed outstanding performance, whereas Jimmo Devi and Pallvi Thakur also played well for GDC Kathua.
President J&K Kho-Kho Association, Manmeet Singh was the chief guest of Women’s final match where as Bhupinder Singh Tirthi, treasurer JKOA was the chief guest during Men’s final match along with Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, JU, who awarded the trophies and medals to the winners and runner up team in the presence of Shashi Sharma, Jogbinder Singh, Kajal Premi, Dr. Kamal Preet Singh, Tanvir, Dr Dinesh Sharma, Arjun Singh and others.
Earlier, in semi-final matches, GDC Kathua beat GDC Doda by 1 point and PG Department defeated GCW Udhampur by1 point in the second semi-final in Women’s category, whereas in Men’s category, GDC Udhampur got better of GDC Rajouri by 7 points and GDC RS Pura defeated GDC Kathua by 4 points.
The matches were officiated by the technical panel of experts including Ajay Gupta, Anil Sharma, Dheeraj Sharma, Gagan Kumar, Amrinderpal Singh, Palbinder Singh, Pooja Sharma, Surbhi Anthal and Sahil Dev Singh.
