PG Deptt, GCW Parade among winners on day-3

JAMMU, Aug 20: PG Department of University of Jammu and Government Colleges for Women (GCW) Parade and Gandhi Nagar were among the winners in the Inter-Collegiate (Men and Women) Chess Tournament, organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, here.
Earlier, in the men’s section, PG Department Jammu University drubbed GDC R S Pura by 4-0 points. Utkarsh Pathania beat Ravi Kumar, Vishal Sharma beat Rahul Sharma, Kulveer Singh outplayed Rajinder Manhas and Aayush Pandit drubbed Sachin Kumar in the first match.
In another match, S PM R College of Commerce beat G D C Hiranagar by 3-0 points. Taranjeet Singh of Commerce College defeated Shubham Sharma, Rachit Gupta of Commerce College trounced Rammy Sharma, Atul Singh of Commerce College got better of Lalit Sharma and Vivek Sharma of Commerce College toppled Ajay Kumar.
In 3rd match of boys section, Govt MAM College team beat GDC Kathua by (3-2) points. Nitname Singh of MAM College drubbed Ankush Mahajan, Ankush Choudhary of MAM College lost to Pankaj Sharma, Shivam Mahajan of MAM College lost to Abhishek Singh, Nikhil Dhawan of MAM College lost to Vinod Kumar, while in the best versus best game, Ankush Choudhary of MAM College beat Abhishek Singh.
In the last match in boys section, GGM Science College got walkover.
Meanwhile in the first match of the women’s section, GCW Parade drubbed SPMR College of Commerce by 4-0. Harsha Langeh of Parade College beat Diksha Mahajan, Virsha Rani of Parade College defeated Harneet Kour, Navneet Kour of Parade College trounced Negam and Mansi Sachdeva of Parade College beat Kajal Mahajan.
In the second match, GWC Gandhi Nagar beat GDC R S Pura by (4-0) points, Geetanjali of Gandhi Nagar College beat Nikita Dogra, Medeha of Gandhi Nagar College defeated Prabhabati, Richa Sharma of Gandhi Nagar College beat Diksha and Mehak Bakshi of Gandhi Nagar College beat Vandana Rajput.
In another match, GDC Udhampur team got walkover.
The matches were officiated by Ajit Singh (Arbiter).
Semifinal matches in both the sections will be played tomorrow.
