JAMMU, Sept 4: Pankaj Kumar Sharma of MAM College bagged gold in epee men event, while Mohd Tariq of the same College bagged foil men individual event as MAM College emerged champion in men’s and GCW Parade in women’s event of the Inter-collegiate Fencing Championship, organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu which concluded at its Gymnasium Hall, here today.
Earlier, in foil individual men, Mohd Tariq (MAM College) won gold, while Vir Sangram Singh (PG Deptt, Jammu University) bagged silver. Bronze medal was shared by Dushyant Magotra (MIET) and Surinder Singh (GDC Udhampur).
In epee individual men, the gold medal went to Pankaj Kumar Sharma (MAM College), while the silver was claimed by Vir Sangram Singh (PG Deptt JU). The bronze medal was claimed by Chahat Singh (GDC Reasi) and Saujanya Chib (MAM College).
Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu was the chief guest of the concluding ceremony, who awarded trophies among the winners, while Prof Dhian S Bhau, Director Sports and Physical Education, presided over the function.
Others present were Suman Lata, Balbir Singh Chib (Physical Directors), Manvinderpal Singh, Anthony Matto, Tony Matto, Abdul, Ajay Khatrol (National Fencers), Imran, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Ravish Vaid, Gagan Kumar, Vikas Karlopia and Jai Bharat.
The bouts were officiated by Shotu Lal Sharma, Rachna Jamwal, Ajit Singh (Fencing Coaches), Rashid Ahmed and Ujjawal Gupta (International Fencers).
P D Singh was the In-charge of the Tournament.
