Palli-B wins title of Shaheed Dhaler Singh Volleyball Tourney

RAMBAN, Sept 29: Palli-B team emerged winner of the Shaheed Dhaler Singh Volleyball Tournament, organised by District Police at District Police Line, here today.
About 46 teams from different four Zones of the District participated with full sportsmanship spirit. In the final match team Palli-B defeated team Gool in a neck to neck contest and clinched the title.
In the valedictory function, Senior Superintendent of Police, Ramban, PD Nitya was the chief guest, whereas Sunder Singh, father of the Shaheed Dhaler Singh was the guest of honour and Additional SP, Rajni Sharma, DySP Hqr Rajinder Singh, DySP DAR, Waqar Ahmed and many other dignitaries graced the function.
After paying tributes to Shaheed Dhaler Singh and other police martyrs, the SSP said that one such event is more precious than many other sports tourneys that will turn out to be inspiring for the budding players of the mountainous district.
The SSP said that the main aim of organizing this tournament was to nourish the sports talent and development of team spirit among the youth of the district. Ramban police has put its sincere efforts to develop sports infrastructure to engage youth in sporting activities.
While impressing upon the youth to keep away from drug abuse, the SSP said that Ramban is a very fertile place both in education and sports and advised the youth to take part in the sports activities so that they can prove their mettle in J&Kand national level sports.
Later, winner-up and runner-up teams were awarded with cash prizes of Rs 15000 and 10000 respectively besides trophies, whereas Rs 5000 each were given to teams who claimed on 3rd and 4th positions.
