Painting competition, symposium on road safety held

UDHAMPUR, Oct 27: With an aim to create awareness among the students about road safety rules and importance of cleanliness in our daily lives, a district level inter-school painting competition on ‘Road Safety’ and symposium on ‘Swachh Bharat and Road Safety’ was organized at Boys Higher Secondary School, here.
The event was organized in collaboration with Assistant Regional Transport Office, Udhampur in which more than 53 students hailing from different schools of the district participated with enthusiasm
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Angrez Singh Rana was the chief guest on the occasion.
While addressing the gathering, the ADC motivated the students to follow safety rules while driving and keep the environment clean and green for the overall development of the society.
In painting competition, Santosh Kumar, GHSS (B) Udhampur clinched the first spot while as Rahul Kumat from GMS Gopa Mandir and Nihal Bandral from Happy Model Higher Secondary School, Udhampur secured second and third positions respectively.
Besides in Symposium Competition, Eknoor Kumar of Aryan Oriental Convent School, Udhampur secured the first position while as Pallavi Sethi from GHSS Tikri became the runner-up of the contest. Ajay Sharma from GHSS (Boys), Udhampur and Ervir from Happy Model HSS Udhampur shared the third spot in the symposium.
Chief Education Officer, Udhampur Bishan Singh presided over the function while as ARTO Udhampur, Rajesh Gupta and DEPO Udhampur, J M Tharmatt were the guests of honour.
Later, Principal of the school, Sunil Kumar Sharma presented the vote of thanks. A panel of jury members included  Senior Lecturer, Prabha Magotra, lecturer Veena Rani and lecturer Vijay Kumar.
