JAMMU, May 10: Extracurricular activities play an important role in the overall development of children and help nurture imagination, discipline and positive thinking, said MLA Jammu East Yudhvir Sethi while addressing a Painting and Drawing Competition organised by JK Future Founders at Shree Radha Krishan Mandir Jagti.
Sethi, who was the chief guest on the occasion, encouraged young participants for their creativity and artistic expression. He appreciated the organisers for providing a meaningful platform to children and promoting cultural and emotional values through art.
He highlighted the importance of such initiatives in supporting the 100-day “Nasha Mukt Bharat” campaign by engaging youth in constructive activities and keeping them away from drug abuse.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 75 students from Classes 4th to 9th. The competition was held in two groups-Classes 4th to 6th and Classes 7th to 9th-where children showcased their imagination through themes such as mother-child bonding, mothers helping in studies, mothers as superheroes, daily sacrifices, and emotional expressions of love and care.
In a special initiative, JK Future Founders provided all participants with free drawing sheets, colour kits, sharpeners, erasers and snacks to ensure equal opportunity for expression. The programme also saw participation and support from Dr Arvind Karwani, Relief Commissioner (Migrants) Jammu J&K, who conveyed his blessings telephonically due to official commitments.
Winners were awarded prizes and certificates by the chief guest, while all participants received certificates of participation to encourage their talent.
