Srinagar, June 7: After the final match of the cricket tournament was played in Pulwama in total violation of the COVID SOPs, police today registered an FIR against the organizers of the tournament and further investigation has been set into the motion.
The violation caught the eye of the officials after a video of the spot got viral in which scores of people were seen gathered in total violation of the norms. After that, the case was filed at Rajpora Police Station.
Officials said that the organisers have been booked under FIR number 78/2021 US 188, 269 at Police Station Rajpora Pulwama
The players were booked for breaking COVID SOPs, according to officials, since the cricket match between Pulwama Gladiators and Rajpora XI at Musarmarg cricket venue drew a huge audience.
Officials said that four persons were arrested in this regard but have been released on bail. They also said that the playground has been sealed as no outdoor games are permitted as the COVID pandemic continues.
Meanwhile, the traders as well as the religious leaders of the district have taken a strong note of the incident and have appealed to the administration to take strict action against the violators.
“Businesses are shut, religious places do not see any gathering, how could they organize the match which witnessed a presence of scores of people; the administration needs to act tough against them,” the locals said.
