Online lecture on ‘How Music Heals’ held

JAMMU, July 31: Menodarpan, the psychological counselling cell of Government Degree College Bishnah today organised an online lecture ‘How Music Heals’ under the Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav (Celebrating 75 years of Independence).
The guest speaker of the programme was Dr Jasmeet Kour, classical singer and Assistant Professor from Government College for Women Parade. The event was organised under the guidance of College Principal, Dr Anuradha Pandoh.
Dr Kour discussed various Ragas such as Raag Bhopali, Raag Bhairav and others. She even mentioned that listening to Tanpura reduce the anxiety caused due to poor sleep. “Music is not a mere subject but as an expression and we cannot ignore music because we are born with music,” she added.
While concluding the session, she sang a Dogri folk song and answered all the questions put forth by the students and the teaching faculty of the College. This programme was organised by Assistant Prof Dr Randheer Kaur, whereas Assistant Prof Shivani presented vote of thanks.
