SRINAGAR, Mar 24: Omar Hamid Bhat of Dar emerged winner in the 5th edition of Spring Champions run held at Islamia College of Science and Commerce, Hawal ground, here today.
The event in which only top athletes of the Valley took part, was flagged off by the Physical Director Islamia College, Altafur Rehman along with JKSDA general secretary Rifat Abdullah, JKSDA Srinagar unit president Tariq Rashid Ghani and senior member Mir Nazir.
Omar cruised to victory with the handsome lead over second placed, Zubair Ahmad. Umar Farooq finished third.
Director Tourism, Kashmir, Mahmood Ahmad Shah was chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony while as Principal Islamia College, Prof GM Tibetbakal was guest of honour.
“JKSDA has been in forefront in promotion of sports in the Valley while as Islamia College always help and provide its facilities to the organizations. This institute that is located in the heart of Shahr e Khaas of Srinagar is known for its sports culture,” Shah said.
Later Mahmood Shah, Prof. Tibetbakal and Tariq Ghani distributed prizes among the winners and also participation mementoes among all the other athletes.
The event was organized by J&K Sports Development Association (JKSDA) in collaboration with Islamia College, Hawal.
