JAMMU, Sept 6: President of J&K Olympic Association (JKOA) Prof (Dr) Ashutosh Sharma and Dushyant Sharma, general secretary JKOA met Dr Narinder Dhruv Batra, president Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and discussed about team India’s performance at Tokyo Olympic Games and the development of sports within the J&K Union Territory.
Both the officials explained to Dr Batra about the difficulties they are facing in J&K on account of new sports code, which is direct interference in the autonomy of the sports bodies and they mentioned that it is a violation of the Olympic charter.
Dr Batra assured them of full support from the Indian Olympic Association and confirmed to them that he will personally come to J&K and will meet the Government officials for sorting out a practical solution in terms of autonomy of sports bodies.
