Hockey Gangpur-Odisha overcame Jammu & Kashmir 10-0 to register their second consecutive win in Pool B league match on the Day-5 of the 4th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship (Division B) played at Chamundi Vihar Stadium here.
Odisha took the lead 7-0 with the help of Namrata Jasmin Bara (1st minute), Mosmita Lugun (8th, 26th and 32nd minute), Janhabi Pradhan’s (28th and 31stminute) and Rinki Kujur (29th minute). In the second half of the game, Rinki Kujur (40th minute) and Janhabi Pradhan (47th and 58th minute) contributed three goals for Hockey Gangpur-Odisha. On the other hand, Jammu & Kashmir failed to score even a single goal against their opponents played on Sunday.
Earlier in the match between Assam and Andhra Pradesh, the latter lost the match with no score to their credit. Assam’s Phulwari Kandulana pocketed two goals at 26th and 34th minute, Gitanjali Kissan and Maxima Xalxo scored one goal each at 22nd and 30th minute respectively. Andhra Pradesh restricted Assam in the second half of the game from scoring any goals but also failed to score any goals against them. Therefore, the damage done by Assam in the first half of the match decided the fate of the game and Assam registered a clear win over Andhra Pradesh by 4-0.
Kerala won the match against Gujarat by 4-1. A commendable start by Kerala in the first half with Sindhu M.R scoring in the 1st minute of the game followed by Pratheesha .Kerala’s two goals at the 10th and the 21st minute, taking the score to 3-0 by the end of the first half. The second half of the game saw Kerala’s fourth and last goal at the 47th minute by Aswani Kunhikrishnan. Gujarat’s only goal stroked by Parmeshwari Shah at the 62nd minute was a penalty corner. The game wrapped up in Kerala’s favour with a score of 4 goals to 1. (UNI)
