JAMMU, Mar 10: Director General Youth Services and Sports, J&K, Navin Agarwal, sanctioned sports scholarship worth Rs 1813000 to the players who represented the State in National School Games during the financial year 2013-14.
Mr Agarwal sanctioned the scholarships after chairing the meeting of officers of the Department of Youth Services and Sports, besides the Director Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu in his office chambers, here today.
In all, 888 scholarships were sanctioned out of which 567 belong to Jammu Division and 321 belong to Kashmir Division.
This included 3 gold, 31 silver and 22 bronze medalists, besides 832 National School Games participants.
The gold medalist will get Rs 10,000 each, while the silver medalist will receive Rs 7,000 each and the bronze medalists will be presented with a cash prize of Rs 5000 each. Each participant will receive a cash prize of Rs 1750 for representing the State at the National scene.
The amount will be distributed to the concerned children through the respective District Youth Services and Sports Officers.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director General while lavishing praise for the medal winners said that the medalists have kept the State’s flag high at the National scene and helped the State to carve a space on the country’s sports map.
