Srinagar, Feb 8: A teenager from North Kashmir’s Pattan area is eyeing big after performing exceptionally well in various tournaments held in Kashmir and is now being trained by cricketer Shubham Khajuria in Jammu.
A cricket enthusiast, Tauqeer Nayeem, 17, who is currently studying in class 11th, is carrying on with his career as well as taking along his passion for cricket which he started playing at a very early age of his life.
His father, Nayeem Ahmad Bhat who himself is associated with the sport, has always been supportive to his son in letting him reach new heights. He is the man who is behind Tauqeer, who, he said, is excelling the game with every passing day.
“He perhaps got it from my genes as I am also a cricket enthusiast, and now that I have seen a spark in him, I am offering a helping hand to him to achieve new heights in the game,” his father told Excelsior.
Tauqeer, who is termed as a magical right-arm spinner, plays for PCC Pattan Blues and went on to play in many age groups in various tournaments held in Baramulla, Sopore, Handwara, Srinagar and Pattan.
He has also been awarded several times for his splendid performances in almost all the matches. The seniors in the game in his area, as per his father, are impressed by his skills and passion for the game.
After witnessing a passion for the game in his son, Tauqeer’s father took him to a nearby ground along with a kit to check his talent out.
“While playing, cricketers on the ground were impressed by his talent which motivated me to go further in allowing him to hone his cricketing skills,” his father said.
Notably, Tauqeer has also attended the trials that were held by cricketer Suresh Raina in Mattan last year and was also selected.
Tauqeer is now working on his skills with the help of cricketer Shubham Khajuria whose cricket academy he joined more than a month ago and is working hard to get an opportunity to play for the U-19 J&K side this year.
Earlier this month, Tauqeer was seen taking cricketing tips from star players of J&K, Abdul Samad, Auqib Nabi and Parvez Rasool.
