Nikhil, Ishuk, Vidit among seven make it to pre-quarter stage

*JKBSA seeks immediate repair of tables

JAMMU, Oct 13: Nikhil Kapahi, Ishuk Chowdhary, Vidit Gawri among seven cueists made it to pre-quarters of the ongoing 1st J&K State Six Red Ball Championship, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Billiards and Snooker Association (JKBSA), at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here today.
In the first knock-out match, Nikhil Kapahi registered win over Aman Choudhary by 4-0 with the score of 42-06, 27-03, 28-16 and 33-26, whereas in the second match, Ishuk Chowdhary beat Sahil Arora by 4-2. Sahil won the first frame by 32-13 and Ishuk equalized the game by winning the second frame by 35-16. Ishuk raised the lead by winning the third frame by 33-27, while Sahil bounced back and won the fourth frame by 33-24 to equalize the game. Ishuk showed exemplary skills and won the fifth and sixth frames by 34-06 and 43-05 respectively to advance into the pre-quarter stage of the tournament.
Avish Sharma defeated Adnan Lone by 4-1 in the third match. Avish won the first frame by 32-29 and Adnan equalized the game by winning the second frame by 40-28. Avish registered win in the third, fourth and fifth frames by 37-30, 36-18 and 50-8 and registered berth in the next stage.
Vidit Gawri survived by luck from Arjun Singh in the fourth match by 4-3 with the score of 41-16, 29-32, 17-38, 34-10, 38-25, 22-40 and 40-30, whereas in the fifth match, Prize Winner Money Abhishek Pathania was shown the door by Rajat Khanna in a well fought game by 4-3 and the score was 24-37, 04-38, 28-31, 34-09, 31-17, 36-10 and 45-20.
In the sixth match, Abid Bhat registered win over Furkan Wani by 4-1 with the score of 35-13, 23-42, 42-10, 35-23 and 48-18, whereas in the seventh match, Rahil Bhat beat Vishal Abrol by 4-1 with the score of 58-31, 44-30, 47-21, 04-47 and 34-12.
As per Organizing Secretary, Ishuk Chowdhary, the J&K State Sports Council has provided only one marker and it is difficult to conduct the tournament smoothly on three tables, which also needs immediate repairing.
The matches were officiated by Rakesh Sharma, Pawan Khajuria and Ashok, while Umar Hamyun was chief referee.
The matches were being held under strict supervision of the JKBSA members and played with the rules and regulations of Billiards and Snooker Federation of India (BSFI).
