Neelofar wins 1st place in essay writing competition

JAMMU, Jan 24: The Department of Political Science in collaboration with NSS Unit of the College organized an Essay Writing Competition and Symposium in the College premises today.
The general theme of the Programme was “Voter Participation is Essential for Effective Democracy” and the sub-themes of the programme included importance of voting in democracy’, emerging trends in voting, role of youth for better democracy, greater participation for a stronger democracy, role of technology in election management and role of civil society in strengthening electoral democracy.
Neelofar Nuzarat, Nazmeen Mughal and Simran Sharma got 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in the Competition respectively, while in Symposium which was presided over by Prof Shabir Hussain Shah, Principal of the College, the Ist position was bagged by Sobia Firdous, while 2nd and 3rd positions went to Nighat Ara and Nighit Choudhary respectively.
Prof Shokit Hussain, Prof Javed Manzoor and Prof Javid Iqbal acted as judges, while the proceedings of the programme were conducted by Shabnum Head Department of Political Science.
Vote of thanks was presented by Prof A A Chowdhary, NSS Programme Officer of the College.
