JAMMU, Dec 2: A NCC unit was introduced by 4th Battalion of NCC at Central University of Jammu (CUJ), here today.
The 4th J&K NCC Battalion which spreads over Samba and Kathua districts benefitted nearly 17 new academic institutes of the border area with the introduction of NCC unit recently.
With the consent of Major General Naveen Kumar Airy and Additional Director General of NCC Directorate Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh, Brigadier Satish Kumar, Group Commander, NCC Group Headquarters Jammu today handed over a banner of NCC along with parchment certificate to Prof Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu for opening of NCC unit of 100 Senior Division Boys in the varsity.
The function started with lightning of ceremonial lamp, followed by introductory lecture on the importance of NCC by Brig Satish Kumar.
Dr Ravi Kumar, Registrar requested the officials of the NCC Battalion for allotment of girls’ wing in the University while presidential remarks was given by Vice Chancellor Prof Aima in which he emphasised the importance of training and camping for NCC cadets.
Vote of thanks was given by Dr Pankaj Mehta CT-ANO, Central University of Jammu while the event was conducted by Anjali Bala.
Mohd Iqbal, Madam Shafla, Ajay, Shailendar, Dr Harpreet Sodhi, Balwan, Udit Mahajan, Prianjan, Major Sanjeev Jamwal, research scholar, students and newly joined NCC cadets of the varsity were also present during the function.
