JAMMU, Mar 6: National Cricket Club (NCC) Jammu, one of the oldest and top Cricket Clubs of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, an affiliate unit of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), honoured young Abdul Samad for his selection in the Sunrisers Hyderabad team for IPL 2020 season.
Samad, who is young member of the Club was felicitated in an impressive, colourful and well attended function at Jammu Tawi Golf Course, Sidhra before his departure for SRH Camp prior to the upcoming IPL season.
Samad was presented a beautiful watch as a memento along with a bouquet by the president of the Club, Prof (Dr) Ashutosh Sharma and the General Secretary, Ravi Kant Gupta in presence of almost all the members of the Club.
Former Ranji Trophy skippers Sanjay Sharma & Kavaljit Singh and former First Class players Ranjit Bali and Ravi Kant Gupta spoke on the occasion and lavished praise on the young cricketer for his landmark achievement.
On the occasion, Prof Sharma briefed the members about the history of the Club and performance of the former players, who had earned laurels for the Club and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Wishing Samad all the success in IPL, Prof Sharma hoped that the youngster will keep the flag of the Club and the Union Territory high by blossoming at the higher levels.
Mr Samad extended thanks to all the members for honouring him and assured them that he will come up to the expectations of the Club.
It is pertinent to mention here that Abdul Samad, who originally hails from District Rajouri and settled in Jammu, has started his cricketing career at the age of 10 years.
“It is his sheer-dint of hard work, discipline, dedication, sincerity, punctuality, determination and what and what not, that has helped Samad to achieve such heights at the young age,” said the members of the Club.
