JAMMU, Sept 14: Batting all-round Rahul Mussa’s brilliance could not stop Zorawar and Ashank to take KC Sports Club Juniors to the semifinals today after their Senior team sealed berth in the last four stage on the other day to dominate the proceedings in the ongoing KC Sports Club T20 Cricket Cup at the Club’s ground, here.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first KCSC Juniors after early hiccups scored a decent total of 159 runs in the stipulated 20 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Zorawar Singh played a brilliant innings of 63 runs, while Ashish, Ashank and Dikshant contributed 30, 22 and 18 runs to the total. Zorawar, in particular was in murderous touch, sending the rival bowlers on a leather hunt with his grace, elegance, explosiveness and aggression. From RCC Srinagar, Praful Dhar took 2 important wickets, while Nitin and Manjeet Singh claimed 1 wicket each.
In reply, RCC Srinagar fell just short of 3 runs from the victory mark, scoring 156 runs in 20 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process. Rahul Mussa scored clinical unbeaten 48 runs, while Ahatsham and Musaif Ajaz contributed 36 and 15 runs to the total respectively. Hardeep Singh took 2 wickets, while Bhanu, Zorawar and Ashank claimed 1 wicket each.
RCC needed 9 runs for victory in the last over, with 3 wickets in hand and skipper Puneet Wattal and Mussa in the middle. However, Ashank held his nerves better with his slowers and spend just 6 runs in the last over, with final dot ball when RCC required 4 runs on the last ball of the match. Zorawar Singh was declared as the man of the match for his outstanding all-round performance.
