JAMMU, Aug 19: Maharishi Markandeshwar (MM) Univ- ersity, Mullana, Ambala, one of the leading universities in the region is organizing a one-day corporate cricket match on August 22 at Yuvraj Singh Centre of Excellence (Cricket Academy) at Varsity campus.
The cricket field with state of art facilities has been prepared on international standards.
The event is a part of the University’s ongoing activity as a Corporate Social Responsibility under which underprivileged patients suffering with cataract would be treated free of cost. 100 plus needy patients would be provided with free cataract surgery. There would not be any charges for lenses either and medicines too will be provided, to the patients, free of cost.
“This is a cricket event with a difference”, said Dr Vishal Garg, Vice President, Maharishi Markandeshwar University Trust. More than 24 corporate representatives from IT and Non IT Sectors will be participating in the event. Around ten thousand spectators are expected to witness the event that has been deemed as one of its kind in the region. Eminent dignitaries including the Chancellor of the University Tarsem Garg will grace the occasion.
He further stated that MM University aims to develop better than the best professionals for the economic development of the country, adding that the Varsity prepares students with an integrated and technology oriented education for a better career and to be worthy citizens of a global society which is committed to nurture trained professional manpower, competent and responsive to the challenges of a dynamic and vibrant society. The students are groomed with industry oriented certifications and trainings to enable them to be industry ready from Day 1, he added.
A proven lineage of 22 years with over 12,000 students, currently studying, the varsity has 10 Colleges of Engineering, Management, Law, Pharmacy, Hotel Management, Education, Medical Sciences, Dental and Nursing with a full fledged super specialty 850 bedded hospital, he disclosed.
The University has a built up area of nearly 2 lakh sqm with about 160 lecture theatres and seminar halls. There are more than 300 labs and workshops with equipment worth nearly 100 Crores.
