KATRA, Apr 6: 33-year old London Olympics 2012 bronze medalist and star wrestler, Yogeshwar Dutt of Sonipat, Haryana visited Katra to pay obeisance at the holy Shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi on the eve of Navratra.
Dutt, who is serving as DySP in Haryana Police was accompanied by three International wrestlers and one ‘Ustad’.
Arjuna Awardee, Padam Shree and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Awardee, International wrestling star was felicitated in an impressive function, organized by J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, under the supervision of Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma, who is also treasurer of Indian Style Wrestling Association of India.
Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri), general secretary District Reasi Indian Style Wrestling Association and president Katra Indian Style Wrestling Association was also present on the occasion.
He was presented with a ‘Mata Ki Chunni’ and a photograph of Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine as a token of gratitude and love.
According to the organizers, the main objective for organizing the felicitation function was to honour the ace wrestler to encourage, motivate and inspire the budding wrestlers of the country.
12-time Senior National Champion, apart from Asian and Commonwealth gold medal winner, Yogeshwar Dutt said that his next mission is to win gold medal in Rio Olympics.
He appealed to the young generation to come forward and adopt the game of Wrestling as their career.
Yogeshwar lauded the efforts of J&K Wrestling Body for promoting the game in nooks and corners of the State and producing international stuff.
