JAMMU, Sept 15: The pick and choose policy in the team selection has once again exposed the prevailing working system of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) as the Under-14 team on tour to Rohtak has yet to surpass the three figure mark in the four innings played so far in the ongoing Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI’s) North Zone (NZ) Inter-State Cricket Tournament at Delhi Public School (DPS) in Rohtak.
After good show by the bowlers in the first match against Himachal Pradesh, who continued to bowl with the same zeal, zest and valour against the strong Delhi, the miserable show by the Jammu and Kashmir batsmen has let the team down as the visitors suffered a humiliating defeat by an innings and 55 runs today.
Earlier, resuming from an overnight score of five for no loss, J&K suffered a dramatic collapse and the whole side bundled out for a paltry 33 runs in the first innings, against Delhi’s 150 runs. All the batsmen failed to show any resistance and crumbled against a decent attack of Delhi and none could cross the double figure mark.
Following on, J&K again suffered a batting collapse and bundled out for a meagre total of 62 runs to lose the match by an innings and 55 runs. Sahil Lotra was the only batsman to show some application, scoring 19 runs in 81 balls. Pavit Singh contributed 8 off 59 balls, while Vivrant, Tehseem and Sanchit contributed 5, 4 and 3 runs to the total respectively. For Delhi, Shethy was the wrecker-in-chief, who captured 5 important wickets, while Ankit Chiller bagged 3 wickets.
Meanwhile, in the third match, J&K would lock horns with Punjab at the same venue on September 20.
