MIER celebrates 80th Foundation Day

JAMMU, Dec 19: To mark the completion of 80thglorious years of dedicated service in the field of education, Model Institute of Education and Research (MIER) today celebrated its Foundation Day with pomp and show, here today.
On this occasion, an impressive function was organized by the institute at its B.C. Road Campus.
The chief guest on the occasion was Kavinder Gupta, Speaker, Legislative Assembly, J&K.
Other luminaries who graced the occasion were Dr. Arun K. Gupta, Chairman MIER, Dr. Renu Gupta, Director MIER, Dr. Adit Gupta and Dr. Ankur Gupta, Joint Directors MIER, the members of the Board of Directors, Principals and HoDs of various wings of MIER and Principals of various schools of Jammu.
The Chief Guest was accorded a warm reception by the Chairman, Director and other senior officers of the Institute. He was presented a guard of honour by the NCC cadets, scouts and guides of the institute. The head boy and the head girl of Model Academy presented a bouquet to the chief guest.
Thereafter, the Chief Guest paid rich homage to the Founders of MIER late Prof. H.L. Gupta and Prof. Shanti Gupta by laying floral wreaths at their portrait.
Chairman MIER and noted educationist Dr. Arun K. Gupta formally welcomed the chief guest and described him as an outstanding statesman and social activist who has worked throughout his career for the upliftment of the poor and downtrodden sections of the society and is respected in social circles for his contributions towards the eradication of social evils from the society.
An impressive cultural programme was presented by the students of both branches of Model Academy. It commenced with ‘SaraswatiVandana’. The little angels of Humming Buds were the cynosure of all eyes with their dance performance on retro and modern music. The students of the Primary wing presented an action song on ‘Good Habits’ which was appreciated by one and all. A dance performance “Let’s Twist Again’ that took the audience back in the 60’s era famous for its rock a roll and twist. Dance ‘colours of India’ presented by the students of Residency Road Branch school showcased the different dance forms from across India. The English Play ‘Pandora’s Box’ transposed the audience to the land of Greek King, Gods and Goddesses with a wonderful message that inspite of many evils, hope always prevails at the end. The mellifluous and soulful renditions of English, Hindi and Punjabi songs byModel Rockers enthralled the audience. ‘Traditional Punjabi Bhangra’ theme dance on “Five elements of earth’ and ‘Rehearsal’ a humorous Hindi Play had the audience in raptures.
The chief guest, Kavinder Gupta in his address lauded the role of MIER in spreading quality education and for producing enlightened citizens equipped with the necessary skills to assume leadership role in all walks of life. He lauded the efforts of the students and teachers in the organization of cultural programme and winning top prizes in several curricular areas. He also extended heartiest congratulations to MIER on this occasion and wished all the best for its future endeavours. He honoured the students who secured merit position in the board examination and those who excelled in games and sports at the National level.
