JAMMU, Jan 17: MIER Cricket Club stormed into the final of the Rajinder Saini & Sandeep Singh Memorial Under-16 (T-30) Cricket Tournament after registering a hard-fought 4-wicket victory over Janta Sports Cricket Club in the semi-final played today.
After winning the toss, Janta Sports elected to bat first and posted 169 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 30 overs. Hashim Gulzar played a brilliant knock of 69 runs, studded with 4 sixes and 6 boundaries, while Sheikh Ghazanfer contributed 31 runs with 4 boundaries. For MIER, Mohit emerged as the most successful bowler, claiming 3 wickets for 35 runs and restricting the opposition from reaching a bigger total.
In reply, MIER Cricket Club chased down the target by scoring 166 runs for 6 wickets in 27.1 overs. Adhyan Bhushan led the batting charge with a well-crafted 46 runs including 5 boundaries. Inderjeet Singh added 26 runs with 3 boundaries, while Krishna and Azaan chipped in with 23 runs each to keep the scoreboard moving. From Janta Sports, Zaid Salroo and Hashim took 2 wickets apiece but failed to stop MIER’s steady progress. For his all-round performance, Mohit of MIER was declared Player of the Match. The final of the tournament will now be played between Laxmi Cricket Club and MIER Cricket Club.
