JAMMU, Nov 10: MHAC Nagbani organized Annual Athletic Meet in the school premises with gaiety and fervour, here.
The chief guest on the said occasion was ID Soni, Commissioner J&K Bharat Scouts and Guides Association and the function was presided over by Manager LMC Capt Dewan Singh.
The meet was declared opened by the chief guest with the hoisting of the flag. The sports meet commenced with the lighting of the sports torch and an oath taking by the participating students. Principal Alok Betab, while welcoming the chief guest, ID Soni, laid stress on importance of sports and games in the school curriculum.
A welcome song and a colourful dance was presented by the students.
A Fancy Dress Competition for the tiny tots was also held on the occasion, which applauded by one and all. The theme of the Fancy Dress was Electronic Goods.
Archita, Anuj, Manyaa and Aruneesh were adjudged the best participants. In tiny tots category Vasu, Gunjan, Atharv and Soumil were adjudged the best participants.
The chief guest distributed prizes to the students who excelled in cultural activities in class VII & VIII for the year 2012-13. In his address the chief guest said, “To win is good but to become victorious is even better”. He emphasized on the role of parents to inculcate true moral values among children.
The sports events for the day were cycle race, milk & biscuit race, Balloon bursting, lemon and spoon race, skipping, get ready for school and ball & basket race for the juniors, which were the main attractions. Sudesh Bhau was adjudged the fastest in female staff matka race and Rohit Sharma and his team was adjudged the fastest in relay race. 100 mts and 50 mts race was held for male & female parents respectively.
The chief guest for the closing ceremony Capt. Dewan Singh distributed prizes for cultural activities for classes I to VI and the winners of the various sports events. Reetika Bhardwaj and Rakesh Singh were adjudged athletes in senior category, while in the pre senior category, Shweta Bhat was declared the best girl athlete and Yash Paul Tinku, the best boy athlete. The overall trophy was bagged by Amar House.
