MGCA, VNCC register wins

JAMMU, Sept 30: Mayank Goswami Cricket Academy (MGCA) and Vijay Nagar Cricket Club (VNCC) scripted convincing wins in the low scoring games over their rivals to advance in the ongoing Jammu Tawi Premier T20 Cricket Championship, being organized by Young Star Cricket Club at MA Stadium, here.
In the first match, MGCA defeated Jewel Cricket Club (JCC) by 8 wickets in an easy contest.
Batting first, JCC scored paltry 79 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Surinder was the only batsman to cross double figure mark by scoring 18 runs. For MGCA, Sahil Mahotra scalped 3 wickets, while Shubam Pundeer bagged 2 and Rohit claimed one.
In reply, MGCA scored the required runs in 9.5 overs by losing 2 wickets, thus won the match by 8 wickets. Ateev Saini was the top scorer with 48 runs including 6 fours and one six, while Surya Mahotra contributed 28 runs to the total. For JCC, Dr Anil took one wicket. Ateev Saaini was declared man of the match for brilliant batting display.
In another match, Vijay Nagar CC defeated Rising Star CC by 8 wickets in a low scoring game. Rising Star, after batting first, bundled out for a meagre total of 66 runs in 15.3 overs. Sahej was the top scorer with 11 runs. For Vijay Nagar CC, Vinod Kotwal was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 5 wickets, while Vijay Rajpoot and Anil Rathore claimed one wicket each.
In reply, VNCC chased the target in 18 overs by losing 8 wickets, thus won the match by 2 wickets. Raman Sharma and Ajay Rajpoot were the main scorers with 18 and 10 runs respectively. For Rising Star CC, Sahil Verma was the pick of the bowlers, scalping 4 wickets, while Rohit and Chandan claimed 2 and one wicket respectively. Vinod Kotwal was adjudged man of the match for his 5-wicket haul.
The matches were officiated by Sandeep and Rajinder Singh as umpires, while Yogesh Sharma was the scorer.
Rainawari Cricket Club will take on Youngster Club, while Khalsa Cricket Club will face Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor in the matches to be held tomorrow.
