Melani of Gujarat among 3 players leading after Round-4

JAMMU, Aug 3: Kumar S of Tamil Nadu, Aditya P Melani of Gujarat and Bharadia Yash of Rajasthan were leading at 4 points each after scoring tough fought victories over their opponents in the fourth round in the ongoing National Under-25 Chess Championship at International Delhi Public School (IDPS), Bathindi, here.
Closely following them at 3.5 points were Harshal Shahi of Delhi, Sparsh Khandelwal of Maharashtra, Srithan Saypuri of Telengana and Suvankar Maity of West Bengal.
“20 players from J&K State are participating in this event which will give lot of exposure to the local players.” said Atul Kumar Gupta President AJKCA.
Five more rounds are still to be played in this event. Top 3 games are shown live on Internet.
“109 players from 22 States are currently participating in this event. The event is organized by Crown Trust under the Banner of All J&K Chess Association and J&K State Sports Council. Event is played under FIDE Laws of chess under Swiss system in which total 9 rounds will be played,” Atul added.
Raj Kumar, DySP Prosecution is the Organizing Secretary of this event. Also present on the occassion were Baldev Raj,Taranvir Singh Gujral, Kuljeet Singh Jamwal, Vikas Nanda, Dr A.S. Bhatia, Rakesh Kumar Gupta and Madhu Abrol.
Nitin Shenvi and Pranesh Yadav are Chief and Deputy Chief Arbiters appointed by Federation for this event.
Other supporting Arbiters are Anil Kotwal and Bindu Pathania, besides technical help is being provided by Ravi Sharma and Sunil Sharma among others.
This is the record 14th All India level event by AJKCA.
