JAMMU, Mar 27: Istever Mega Kashmir Chess festival got underway in Valley with the demonstrations, training and events beginning at Kulgam, Pulwama and Anantnag districts.
The Festival will be held up to March 31, 2019 in all the districts of Kashmir at different venues.
About 2500 players from different parts of Pulwama, Kulgam and Anantnag districts participated in these districts at different venues.
At Kulgam, the Festival was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner, Dr Shameem Ahmed Wani, while Deputy CEO Mohd Ayoub Shah was the guest of honour.
Ar Pulwama, the Festival was inaugurated by Principal Boys Degree College Pulwama, Professor Mushtaq Ali.
At Anantnag, the Festival was inaugurated by Principal Boys Degree College Anantnag, Professor Bashir Ahmad, while in-charge manager Sports Council Mohd Shafi was the guest of honour.
This Festival is being sponsored by Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council, initiated by its Secretary Dr Naseem Javaid Choudhary.
The Festival is being held under the guidance of Atul Kumar Gupta, President AJKCA and managed and organized by Ashiq Ahmad Kolu and all the members of the Association from the districts of Kashmir division. About 10,000 players are expected to participate in trainings and events in all the 10 districts at different venues.
This type of event will go a long way in involvement of youth towards sports and positive direction said Atul Kumar Gupta President of AJKCA.
He thanked Sports Council for supporting the event and raising infrastructure.
A total cash prize of Rs 1,50,000 and 240 medals will be distributed among the winners of this Festival.
