JAMMU, Nov 25: Chess player Meenal Gupta has been conferred with State Award for her excellent performance in Commonwealth Game, here today.
The award carries Rs 51000 cash prize along with Gold medals worth Rs 1.25 lakhs and a memento. She was also awarded with Sher-e-Kashmir Award, organised by J&K UT Government recently at MA Stadium here.
Meenal Gupta had won two Commonwealth Games medals including one Gold in 2016 and one Silver in 2018 while she had also represented India and erstwhile State in various national and international levels including European events at Barcelona Spain, World Junior at Turkey, World Sub Junior at Montevideo and among others. She recently wrote a book namely “The Golden vision”-The vision matters – opportunities can be created for motivating teenagers and youth for high level success.
