Media XI overpowers RCC by 22 runs

JAMMU, Apr 15: Media XI Cricket Club defeated Rainawari Cricket Club by a margin of 22 runs in a T-20 cricket match played at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today.
Media XI Cricket Club led by Yash Khajuria, after winning the toss opted to bat first. With the help of stellar batting performance by Gourav who scored well crafted fifty (63 runs off 44 balls) Media XI posted a challenging 162 runs’ target on scoreboard at the cost of 6 wickets in the stipulated overs.
Amit Kumar (24 runs off 27 balls) and Ankush (23 runs off 14 balls) also contributed to the total. Vishal from Rainawari CC bowled exceptional to eliminate three of the Media XI batters conceding just 22 runs in his four over spell. Whereas Abhay and Aditpal Singh also bagged 2 and 1 wickets respectively.
In their run chase the cautious Rainawari CC suffered early loss of wicket as Media XI bowlers bowled exceptional in the power play leaking just 37 runs by sending 2 batsmen back to the pavilion. Bowling tight line and length in the middle overs by the Media XI bowlers cost Rainawari CC badly as they kept on losing wickets on regular interval as they eventually ended up 139 for 8 in the 20 overs and lost by 22 runs. Mussif and Rishab were the only batsmen who could salvage some pride as they scored 34 & 25 runs respectively. Aditpal with 14 runs of 9 balls remained the other top scorer for the Rainawari CC.
For Media XI, Rahul Khatri 2/29 remained the pick of the bowlers, whereas Yash, Nitin, Ankush, Amit and Sunil shared a wicket each.
Later, Gourav Manhas who scored 63 runs laced with 9 boundaries was declared as Man of the Match.
Desh Ratan Dubey, Joint Secretary, J&K Cricket Association, Jammu Wing was the Chief Guest on the occasion, whereas Senior Journalist Rajesh Dhar presided over the funcation.
