MBS HC trounces Kathua Hockey Club by 3-2

JAMMU, Jan 21: MBS Hockey Club Simbal Camp defeated Kathua Hockey Club, Lachi Pura in a close contest by three goals to two (3-2) in the ongoing Baba Fateh Singh Ji Memorial Hockey Tournament, being organized by Hockey J&K at KK Hakhu Astroturf Hockey Stadium, Gulshan Ground, here today.
The Tournament is being sponsored by Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council.
The players of both the teams displayed superb hockey skills, however, it was Randeep Singh of MBS Hockey Club, who netted the first goal in the 10th minute to give his side an early lead. Another goal by Navjot Singh in 20th minute increased the lead by (2-0). But Kathua Hockey Club came back strongly and scored a brilliant goal in the 22nd minute through Ramandeep to make it (2-1). Then, Gaganjot Singh of MBS Club netted another goal in 26th minute to make it (3-1) in his team’s favour. A goal by Rajesh Singh of Kathua Hockey Club in 38th minute, though decreased the lead, yet it was not enough to save his team from defeat. MBS finally won by (3-2).
In another match, Khalsa Club Gole Gujral blanked Vijaypur Warriors by (4-0). Balmeet Singh scored a brilliant hat-trick, netting goals in 20th, 30th and 45th minutes of the match, while the 4th goal was scored by Gurveer Singh in 50th minute.
The match was officiated by Jagjeet Singh, Karanjeet Singh, JS Reen, Iqbal Singh, Joginder Singh and Karanjeet Singh (Junior), while GS Bakshi, General Secretary Hockey J&K was present on the occasion.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Hiranagar Hockey Club will take on Guru Nanak Nagar Hockey Club at 1:30 pm.
