LEH, Jan 10: The Royal Enfield Ice Hockey League Season 2 witnessed electrifying action as the semi-finals drew closer. In the women’s category, defending champions Maryul Spamo delivered a dominant performance, crushing Humas Queens by 11-2 to secure their place in the finals. The standout player for Maryul Spamo was Captain Padma Chorol, who netted four goals, including her second hat-trick of the season. The match was one-sided from the start, with Rinchen Dolma and Padma Chorol scoring early, followed by a clinical second-period display that saw Spamo race to an 8-1 lead. Despite a late goal from Humas Queens, Padma sealed the victory with her fourth goal in the final period.
In the men’s category, Humas Warriors outclassed Changla Blasters by 11-3 to secure a semi-final spot. Waseem Bilal was the standout performer, scoring six goals, including a spectacular long-range slap shot in the second period. The Warriors dominated from the start, with Hilal Al Sheikh and Waseem Bilal adding early goals. Despite a brief response from the Blasters, the Warriors’ offensive onslaught proved too much, as they set a new league record for the highest score by any team this season.
Changthang Shans earned their place in the semi-finals following a dramatic 2-2 draw against Sham Wolves. Shans initially led with a 1-0 advantage but were later overtaken by Wolves, who led 2-1 in the final period. However, Captain Chamba Tsetan’s late equalizer secured the draw and Shans’ qualification for the semis.
Zangskar Chadar Tamers ended their campaign on a high note with a 4-0 win over Maryul Spawo. The semi-final matchups are set for tomorrow, promising more intense action at the Nawang Dorjay Stobdan (NDS) Stadium, Leh.
