Martand, Chandra, Gansham help Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh outplay rivals

JAMMU, Dec 7: Martand Raina, Chandra and Gansham displayed extraordinary soccer skills and showed serenity, composure and promise to help Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh defeat their rivals convincingly and qualify for the quarterfinals stage in the ongoing 62nd National School Games Under-19 Football Championship, being organized by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, under the aegis of School Games Federation of India at various venues, here.
Earlier, at GGM Science College ground, Chhattisgarh defeated Vidya Bharti by eight goals to nil (8-0) in a one-sided affair. Chandra scored four goals including a hatrick, while Gourav, Pardesi, Ujeet and Partap netted one goal each.
In another match at Jammu University ground, Chhattisgarh got better of Uttarakhand by six goals to one (6-1). For Chhattisgarh, Gansham scored 3 goals, Pardeep pelted 2 and Ujeet netted one. Ritik was the goal scorer for Uttarakhand.
At GGM Science College ground, Rajasthan defeated Jammu and Kashmir by two goals to one (2-1). J&K scored the first goal early in the match through Sahil, however, Martand Raina played superbly and scored an equalizer in the 55th minute, which was followed by another goal by Mohit in 59th minute of the match.
In another match at Jammu University, Rajasthan thrashed CBSE by three goals to nil (3-0). Martand was the star performer in this match also, scoring one goal and making moves at right time.
In another match at Jammu University ground, KVS defeated Haryana by a solitary goal. Ashutosh was the goal scorer.
The match between Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh ended in a (1-1) draw at MA Stadium. For HP Abhishek was the goal scorer in 8th minute, while Malvan netted the goal for MP in 42nd minute.
In other matches played at various venues today, NVS outclassed Daman Deo (3-0),UP got better of Kerala by (1-0), Jharkhand defeated Daman Deo (4-0), Chandigarh got better of Karnataka by (1-0), NVS prevailed over Delhi by (1-0), Maharashtra drew with KVS (1-1), Tamil Nadu beat West Bengal (1-0), Tamil crushed DAV by (4-0) and strong Kerala crushed Andhra Pradesh by (11-0).
