JAMMU, June 9: Manjit Singh, president, J&K Jatt Sabha and former Minister today sought promotion of sportsmanship among the young generation to fight drug addiction and growing anti-social activities.
Manjit Singh was attending a tournament, where he was the chief guest.
The tournament was organized by the youth leaders of Jatt community.
Speaking on the occasion, Manjit appreciated the organizer of the program and appreciated them for organizing such a tournament that has encouraged the youth to participate in the sports activities.
He said that the sports activities must be promoted to encourage sportsmanship among the youths to fight against drug addiction and other social evils.
“If the future generation is guided towards a bright future with the help of sports, civil society, involvement of parents and others,” said Manjit.
“These people act as a second line of defence along the border with Pakistan while fighting equally with the Indian forces against the enemies of the country,” he said and demanded that the Government should focus on providing better livelihood facilities and other reservations to the Jatt community youth for their jobs and in defence forces.
Meanwhile, MLA and vice president of the Sabha, Vikram Randhawa, who was the guest of honour in his address said, “The border belt has always remained neglected regarding sports activities. Hence, it becomes important for the Government to provide better play grounds and encourage sports activities in the border belt for the youth.”
Those who attended the event included district president, Dwarka Choudhary, Treva, Balbir Kour and others.
