JAMMU, Dec. 23: Churchill Brothers registered empathetic win over the Young Heros Club in the opening match of the 2nd Christmas Soccer Championship, which was inaugurated by Amrit Malhotra, Chairman Legislative Council J&K at GGM Science College Football ground, here today.
The tournament in which almost all the top teams of the State are participating is being organized by J&K Christian Sports Organization in collaboration with J&K Police and Jammu and Kashmir Football Association.
The participating teams included JK Police, JK Bank, JK Forest, JK PDC, SRTC, Churchill Brothers, NGR, Jammu Sports, Jammu United, Sainik Colony,Young Rovers,Vijay Club and J&K Bank Academy.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Hafiza Muzaffar, Kuldeep Singh,Vikram Malotra, Rajesh Gill, Markes Gill, Surinder Singh, SM Gill and Narinder Gupta.
Fr Kuriakose incharge priest of the Gandhi Nagar Chruch presided over the function, Hafiza Muzaffar, Executive Director Rehabiliation Council, Social Welfare was the guest of honour, while Salim Khan Health Officer of Jammu Municipality and Pramod Kumar, Branch Manager of Federal Bank were the special guests on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion, Chairman, JK Legislative Council lauded the efforts of the Christian Sports Organization for conducting this mega event on the occasion of Christmas with the objective to promote communal harmony, peace in the state.
Fr Kuriakose while speaking on the occasion said that we are trying to convey the message of the Jesus “let the peace be prevail everywhere” through the sports fraternity.
The proceedings of the opening function were conducted by Victor Sotra, vice president of CSO, while vote of thanks was presented by Rajesh Gill, president of the Christian Sports Organization.
The matches were officiated by Rakesh Kumar, Koushal Sharma, Hilal and Harmanjeet Singh.
