Maan, Rohan bag gold, silver in Sub-Junior; Ricky, Hari Om, Raghubir, Aamir emerge winners in Senior Men category

JAMMU, Oct 8: District Boxing Championship, organized by J&K Amateur Boxing Association, concluded at Boxing Ring, MA Stadium here today. More than 100 men and women boxers participated in the Senior, Junior and Sub Junior categories in the championship.
On the valedictory function, Rangil Singh, president, J&K Olympic Association was the chief guest, who presented medals to the winners in presence of Dr Ashutosh Sharma, General Secretary, J&K Olympic Association, who was guest of honour. Dr Nirmolak Singh, General Secretary, J&K Amateur Boxing Association, Ram Parkash, General Secretary, Mountaineering Association of J&K and Divisional Sports Officer, Rajan Sharma were also present.
State Boxing Coach, Anil Wadhera assisted by Sanjeev Singh Jamwal and senior boxers officiated the bouts.
In Sub-Junior category (2001-2002), Harsh Singh, Bharat Singh and Sushil Singh clinched gold, silver and bronze medals respectively in 32-34 kg, whereas in 36-38 kg, Kamal Sharma and Mukesh Sharma bagged gold and silver medals respectively, while the bronze medal was shared by Vasik Talib and Ayush. In 42-44 kg, Arif Wani and Gourav claimed gold and silver medals respectively, while the bronze medal was shared by Aditya Naryan and Rahul Dabgotra.
In 24-26 kg (2003-2004), Maan Singh and Rohan Pandey clinched gold and silver medals respectively, whereas in 26-28 kg, Mayank Chattri, Rajbir Singh and Gopal Sharma bagged gold, silver and bronze medals respectively, in 40-42 kg, Ashish Gurang and Anuj Sharma bagged gold and silver medals respectively, in 56-60 kg, Mohit and Pranjay Singh clinched gold and silver medals respectively and in 53-56 kg, Mansher Singh Jamwal claimed gold medal.
In Junior Category (46-49 kg), Vishal Choudhary and Sahil Kumar bagged gold and silver medals respectively, while the bronze medal was shared by Keshan and Karan, whereas in 49-52 kg, Anil and Rahul secured gold and silver medals respectively, while the bronze medal was shared by Sahil Sharma and Vishnu Partap Singh.
In 52-56 kg, Akhil Thapa, Anjan Thapa and Prithvi Raj clinched gold, silver and bronze medals respectively, while in 56-60 kg, Akash Khatri and Rajat Kumar bagged gold and silver medals respectively, while the bronze medal was shared by Amandeep Singh and Abhishek Chouhan, in 60-64 kg, Vinod Bhardwaj and Rajan bagged gold and silver medals respectively, whereas in 64-69 kg, Tarun Gorkha, Vishal Singh and Sunil Singh emerged winners and in 69-76 kg, Mohit Chib and Roshan Kumar clinched gold and silver medals respectively.
In Senior category (46-49 kg), Ankush Sharma and Vijay Kumar bagged gold and silver medals respectively, while the bronze medal was shared by Anshuman Khajuria and Ghar Singh, in 49-52 kg, Akash Sharma and Lokesh Singh clinched gold and silver medals respectively, while the bronze medal was shared by Kishori Lal and Abhishek Katal. In 52-56 kg, Gautam and Amit secured gold and silver medals respectively, while Vishal Singh and Nikhil Jamwal shared bronze medal and in 56-60 kg, Ram Kumar and Vinay Rajput clinched gold and silver medals respectively, while Aman Sharma and Shubam Pandit shared bronze medals. In 60-64 kg category, Mohit Chalotra and Shiv Singh secured gold and silver medals respectively, while the bronze medal was shared by Govind Sharma and Sandeep Choudhary.
In Senior Men category (64-69 kg), Ricky Kumar and Hari Om bagged gold and silver medals respectively, while Raghubir Thakur and Aamir shared bronze medals, in 69-75 kg, Sanjeev Kumar and Samrat bagged gold and silver medals respectively, while the bronze medal was shared by Deepak Choudhary and Akash Sharma, in 75-81 kg, Ankush Sharma, Mukul Jamwal and Nikhil clinched gold, silver and bronze medals respectively and in above 91 kg, Abhi Sharma, Mohammad Sultan and Amanik Singh bagged gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
In Women category (45-48 kg), Sonia, Aarti and Diksha clinched gold, silver and bronze medals respectively, in 48-51 kg, Skalzang Dolma and Purnima Gupta bagged gold and silver medals and in 65-69 kg, Sulekha Devi and Bandna Sharma secured gold and silver medals respectively.
