JAMMU, Oct 10: Maan Cricket Club (MCC) smashed Viru Cricket Club (VCC) by 17 runs to enter into the next stage of the ongoing Sikh Premier League, being organized by Khalsa Club at Baba Jhulla Camp, Gole Gujral, Talab Tillo, here today.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, MCC set a target of 157 runs by losing 7 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Navjot Singh played a splendid inning of 42 runs, while Karam Preet Singh and Chandan Deep Singh contributed with 30 runs each.
From VCC side, Babneet Singh scalped 3 wickets by conceding 20 runs in 4 overs, while Gagandeep Singh and Tejinder Singh scalped one wicket apiece by giving 21 and 30 runs in their respective 4 overs spell.
In the second inning, VCC failed to chase the target and made 140 runs by losing 7 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Jagteshwar Singh was the highest scorer with 46 runs, while Tejinder Singh and Babneet Singh scored 20 and 14 runs respectively.
Navjot Singh of MCC was adjudged as Man of the Match.
The match was officiated by Kawalpreet Singh and Bivek Singh as umpires, while Gagandeep Singh acted as scorer.
On the occasion, Amarjeet Singh was the chief guest, who awarded the winner team and impressed upon the youth to participate in sports activities to keep their body mentally and physically fit.
