Locked ground leaves cricketers in lurch

JAMMU, Mar 13: Hell! On the one hand there is euphoria of cricket everywhere, especially, with the cricketing extravaganza ‘World Cup 2015’ going on; and on the other hand, the cricketers of the State become victims of the jaundiced policies of JKCA and are left in the lurch because of the factionalism in the elitist cricketing body of the State, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association .
It was strange to see GGM Science College Hostel ground, the main playfield for JKCA activities, locked when the Association had advised the Ranji Trophy probables to attend the selection Camp for Mushtaq Ali T20 Tournament, under former Test Cricketer, Sunil Joshi.
With the main gate of the ground as also the necessary equipment locked, the Camp could not begin, with just ten days left for this prestigious BCCI’s North Zone Tournament to be held at Delhi from March 24.
When contacted, chairman of JKCA, Arvinder Singh  Micky said that the act of locking the ground is simply unwarranted rather evil, blaming joint secretary, Sudershan Mehta for the same.
He said as per the Government Order, none of the Government employee can be an office bearer of any Association, without the permission of his Department or Organization, adding that the joint secretary being the employee of the Police Department, the JKCA has already intimated the Director General of Police, K Rajendra Kumar with regard to this issue.
He further said, we are committed to promote the game, but the people around us are hell-bent upon to make the players to suffer.
Joint secretary, Sudershan Mehta when contacted said, the Association has neither informed me about the Camp nor issued any letter in this regard, adding that I had already permitted the organizers of Jammu Kashmir Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament to use the ground up to end of this month, so there is no question of holding any other activity.
Regarding Micky’s statement that JKCA has issued a letter to his DG, Mehta said that is my official issue and I have already applied for the permission.
