JAMMU, Nov 10: Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment Choudhary Lal Singh as Chairman Board for Development of Sports in India (BDSI) today reviewed arrangements for the 6th Jammu Marathon at a high level meeting of Civil and Police officers at Civil Secretariat, here this afternoon.
The Jammu Marathon is being organised by Board for Development of Sports in India (BDSI) on November 13 in which a huge number of people from all walks of life including Government functionaries, students and professionals are expected to participate.
The Jammu Marathon will start from MAM Stadium and pass through the old parts of Jammu city including Bus Stand, Shakuntla Theatre, Amphalla via BC Road, CPO Chowk, Kachi Chawni, Parade, Shalamar, Indira Chowk, Dogra Chowk and will culminate at MAM stadium.
Divisional Commissioner Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IGP BSF, IGP CRPF, IGP J&K Police, IGP Traffic, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Simrandeep Singh besides other senior officers of civil and police administration and representatives of BDSI were present in the meeting.
The Minister asked the civil and police officers to work in close coordination to make the event a grand success. He asked the representatives of BDSI to make necessary arrangements for refreshment and drinking water enroute the Marathon.
Choudhary Lal Singh said that this year’s ‘Jammu Marathon’ has been dedicated to brave soldiers of the country. The theme for 6th Jammu Marathon will be “Run for India! Run for Pride!!” he added. The slogan of the event will be “Hindustan Meri Jaan”. He said the entire campaign of the event is designed to honour our brave soldiers. He said Jammuites will run not only for sports but also for their nation”, he said, adding that it is very important to promote nationalism amongst youth and Jammu Marathon is big opportunity to showcase our commitment.
Later, the Minister also kick-started signature campaign in support of brave Indian soldiers ‘Sign up for India’ at M A Stadium in Jewel Chowk.
