JAMMU, Feb 27: Minister for Forest Environment and Ecology, Chodhury Lal Singh today said that ‘team spirit’ is important for bringing positive developments both in the game as well into the governance.
The Minister while speaking at the Inter-district football tournament, organized by Sashatra Seema Bal, said that forces have played a vital role in country’s development and security. He said that the sacrifices laid down by the forces shouldn’t go waste. “Forces as an institution have shown a remarkable growth from last many years,” he said. “Not only serving the nation but they are into many things, including Sports activities now,” he said.
The Minister declared the inter-district football tournament open at Parade Ground Jammu in the presence of Shri Ravinder Raina, MLA Nowshera and Swami Paramanand Saraswati.
Manavendra Negi, DIG SSB Jammu welcomed the chief guest in the opening ceremony.
Later the minister congratulated SSB for undertaking such initiative for the youth of J&K.
First phase of tournament was played at district level in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Ramban & Doda from 19th to 24th February 2017. Young rovers & Param FC from Jammu, Thapa FC from Udhampur, Kehli Mandi FC from Samba, United FC from kathua & Ramban FC have qualified for the inter district football tournament. Inter-District Football matches will be played from 27th Feb to 02nd March 2017.
Sashastra Seema Bal has taken this initiative to provide a platform to the young football players of J&K to display their sporting skills and techniques. It will also encourage other football lovers to explore their potential in the game. This venture by Sashastra Seema Bal will help to spread the message of gaining fitness by outdoor gaming, inculcate team spirit in the players & promote healthy competition among the youth of our state.
Joginder Singh DIG CRPF, Harinder Kr CO CRPF, Vijay S. Jamwal CO 66 Bn SSB, S B Chand 2ic SSB, Barjeet Singh DC, Jeet Lal DC, Raj Ranjan DC, Kasturi Lal DC, Jitender Meena AC, Dr Mrinalini Singh AC (med), Surinder Singh Bunty, Vice president JKFA and Mohan Lal from JKFA were also present  the occasion.
In the matches played today, Kehli Mandi FC Samba crushed Ramban Football Club by a big margin of 14 goals (14-0), while Young Rovers Jammu defeated Thapa Football Club Udhampur in a close contest by two goals to one (2-1).
