DIG inaugurates JSK Range Friendship Cricket Cup
*Kathua Stadium XI registers win over Jammu Warriors

JAMMU, Sept 17: Deputy Inspector General of Police Vivek Gupta inaugurated the JSK Range Friendship Cricket Cup for the youths of Jammu, Samba and Kathua, which is being organized by Range Police Headquarters Jammu under the Civic Action Program of J&K Police at Parade ground here today.
The slogan of the event is “Khelo Khel-Bhuloo Nasha”. The JSK Range Friendship Cricket Cup for the youths of Jammu, Samba and Kathua is being organized under the supervision of DIG Jammu, Pawan Sharma SO to DIG Jammu is the incharge of organizing team whereas Rajesh Gill Chief Prosecuting Officer and former Ranji Player is the Coordinator of the tournament.
In the inauguration function, Vivek Gupta DIG Jammu was the chief guest whereas Pawan Parihar So to DIG Jammu, Amritpal Singh SP North Jammu, Suram Singh SP Rural, Vinay Kumar SP South Jammu and Farooq Qaiser SP Headquarters Jammu were the guests of honour.
While speaking, DIG stated that the sports persons are the real ambassadors in a society who always motivates the young generation to involve them in sports activities, to remain fit & healthy and to stay away from the drugs.
Gupta further said that the main objective of the tournament is to channelize the energy of youth as also to promote sports in the State so that the youths may stay away from the drugs. He said that it is as part of regular activities of Jammu and Kashmir Police Department under CAP, adding that such programmes also serve as a launching pad in bringing peace and harmony to the state of Jammu and Kashmir through the messengers of peace (sportspersons).
He advised the young participants to work hard and try to find place in national teams. He also wished the participants for a bright future.
On the occasion, DIG Jammu also distributed the cricket uniforms to all the participating teams.
Earlier, Rajesh Gill Chief Prosecuting Officer and Coordinator of the event presented welcome address and brief report of the event whereas the proceedings of the inaugural function were conducted by Justina Victor.
Other present on the occasion includes Hamid Choudhary, DyS P DAR, Ram Singh DySP South, Satish Kumar SDPO North, Rajinder Singh SDPO East, Sunil Sharma SHO Pacca Danga, Anil Parade Officer and Vijay Saberwal President Parade Sports Association.
Earlier in the inaugural match, Lakshmi Cricket Club defeated KC Sports Club by 3 wickets.
Batting First, KC Sports Club scored 67 runs for the loss of all wickets in 18.2 overs. Tahir scored 15 runs and Arvind made 14 runs.
From Lakshmi Club, Dhruv Mahajan, Dhruv Parmar and Sameer Khajuria took 2 wickets each.
In reply, Lakshmi Club chased the target in 10.2 overs for the loss of 7 wickets thus won the match by 3 wickets. Dhruv Mahajan scored 22 runs, Rohan Koul scored 20 runs whereas Pardeep bali chipped in 19 runs.
Dhruv Mahajan was declared as Man of the Match.
In the second match, Kathua Stadium XI defeated Jammu Warriors Club by 3 wickets.
Batting first, Jammu Warriors scored 102 runs by losing all wickets in 18.2 overs, Akash Choudhary scored 23 runs, Anjush made 18 runs and Abhishek scored 15 runs.
From Kathua Stadium XI, Kaka took 3 wickets while Sanjay, Sheetal and Sandeep took 2 wickets each.
In reply, Kathua Stadium XI chased the target in 15.2 overs by losing 7 wickets thus won the match by 3 wickets. Sandeep Singh and Sudhanshu were main scorers with 55 and 21 runs respectively.
From Jammu Warriors, Sourav took 3 wickets, Akash Choudhary took 2 wickets while Abhinav took 1 wicket.
Sandeep Singh was declared as Man of the Match for his performance.
The matches were officiated by Ashok Kumar, Sabastian and Mohit.
