KATHUA, Feb 6: Grandparents Day was celebrated today with great pomp and show at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kathua, here today.
The chief guest of the function was MLA Kathua, Rajiv Jasrotia.
Students of Primary wing presented various cultural items and conveyed the importance of the day through a Skit and other colourful programmes.
On this occasion, Grandparents and maternal grandparents took part in race and musical chair competition. The winners were given away the prizes on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA said that the importance of grandparents in the lives of children can’t be denied. Before our culture became so mobile, it was common for children to grow up surrounded by extended family, including one or both sets of grandparents; who often moved in with their adult children when they became frail.
Principal KV Kathua, MK Tiwari reminded the gathering about the importance of values to be given to respected elders as blessings of elders show the right path to every member.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks and recital of National Anthem. On this occasion City Mandal Pardan Vidya Sagar, Kandi Mandal Pardan Kulwant Singh, Shashi Sharma, Jagdish Punia and others were also present.
