Kuldip, Praful, Sourav, Puneet help RCC Srinagar to script emphatic win

AKHNOOR, Nov 14: Skipper and left-arm spinner Kuldip Kumar, young off-spinner Praful Dhar, speedster Sourav Chopra and opener Puneet Wattal helped Rainawari Cricket Club to defeat Nagrota Cricket Club by 33 runs to advance into the 3rd round of the ongoing Pawan Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor at Govt Higher Secondary School ground, here.
Chasing a modest total of 120 runs, Nagrota Cricket Club batsmen failed to negotiate the spinning trio of Kuldip Kumar (18/3), Praful Dhar (16/2) and Aman Sharma (19/1) and medium pacer Sourav Chopra (2/10), who all bowled with nagging line and teasing length to bundle out the team for 87 runs. Satish Kumar also took one wicket for his team. Thus RCC Srinagar won the match by 33 runs.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, RCC scored 120 runs in 18.2 overs. Puneet Wattal played a brilliant innings of 33 runs, including 3 fours and one six, while Sandeep Singh contributed 24 runs to the total, with one six and one four and Harsh chipped in with 8 runs including a massive six. For Nagrota Club, Niju took 4 important wickets, while Kamal scalped 3 wickets. Rahul and Madan claimed one wicket each.
In another match of the day, Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor defeated Seven Star CC by a huge margin of 117 runs.
Batting first, SCC scored a mammoth total of 219 runs in 20 overs. Puneet Kumar top scored with 62 runs, while Monu, Mangal, Chander Kiran and Raman Dutta scored 34, 33, 31 and 30 runs respectively. Deepu bagged 3 wickets for Seven Star, while Bishan took 2 wickets. Mukesh and Rajinder claimed one wicket each.
In reply Seven Star bundled out for 102 runs in 19 overs. Deepu was the top scorer with 41 runs. Left-arm spinner Raman Dutta was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 5 important wickets for Singh CC Akhnoor, while Chander Kiran took 2 wickets. Yubi and Sham Singh Langeh also claimed one wicket each. Raman Dutta was declared as man of the match.
The matches were officiated by Rajinder Sharma, Dayal Singh, Vikas Bali and Ashu.
