JAMMU, Apr 2: Left-arm spinner Kuldeep Kumar spun web around the rival batsmen and scalped 6 important wickets, while Vishal Kanth and Shashi Kumar scored magnificent half-centuries as KC Sports Club and Simula Cricket Club registered convincing wins over their rivals to enter into the quarterfinals of the ongoing Winter Shield T20 Cup, organized by SCA, J&K Sports Council under the supervision of its Secretary Dr Naseem Javaid Choudhary.
In the first match, KC Sports Club defeated Patel Cricket Club by 36 runs.
Batting first, KC Sports Club scored 159 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. Vishal Kanth played a brilliant innings of 60 runs, while Atul and Kawalpreet contributed 23 and 20 runs respectively. From the bowling side, Deepak and Sachin took 2 each while Anmol, Nityam and Sanchit took 1 wicket each.
In reply, Patel Cricket Club managed to score 124 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 8 wickets thus lost the match by 36 runs. Sachin Sharma top scored with 24 runs, while Sanchit (17) and Abhishek (16) runs were the other contributors. From bowling side, Vivek and Musaif took 2 wickets each, while Arvind, Kalyan, Vicky and Sahil claimed 1 wicket each. Vishal Kanth was declared man of the match.
In another match, Simula Club defeated Lucky Club by 52 runs.
Batting first, Simula Club scored 163 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Shashi 52 runs, Vikram 31 runs and Hinan 23 runs were the main scorers. From the bowling side Vicky took 2 wickets while Mehran, Rahul, Govind and Dhruv took 1 wicket each .
In reply Lucky Club could not chased the target and made 112 runs for all in 17.2 overs thus lost the match by 52 runs. Yuvraj 34 runs, Vicky 24 and Jugjab 17 runs were the main scorers. From the bowling side, Kuldeep took 6 import wickets, Raman Dutta bagged 3 wickets while Abhinav claimed 1 wicket. Kuldeep was declared as the man of the match.
The matches were officiated by Vijay, Dayal and Ashok Singh.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Vishal Cricket Club will take on Horizon Club at 10.30 am, while KCCC will face Stadium Eleven Kathua at 1.30 pm.
