KU wins 11 Medals in All India Inter-University ‘Qwan Ki Do’ tourney

SRINAGAR, Apr 29: University of Kashmir won 11 medals in the All India Inter-University Qwan Ki Do tournament held in Rajasthan. The event was hosted by Shri Jagdishprasad Jhabarmal Tibrewala University in Chudela Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan and witnessed spirited competition from 34 Universities from across the country.
The University of Kashmir contingent, comprising 12 players accompanied and guided by Surjeet Kour as Manager, showcased exceptional skill and determination, securing a remarkable tally of nine bronze and two silver medals in different categories.
Dr Mandeep Singh, Director, Directorate of Physical Education and Sports, appreciated Vice Chancellor Prof. Nelofer Khan and Registrar Prof. Naseer Iqbal for their unwavering and unflinching support towards the university’s sports endeavours.
AIU Joint Secretary (YA & Sports) Dr Baljit Singh Sekhon appreciated Dr Mandeep Singh (Director, DS&PE) and the entire University of Kashmir for this remarkable achievement. Dr Sekhon was the Guest of Honour of the tournament and was thrilled by the excellent performance of athletes of Kashmir University.
He also expressed his gratitude to the managing committee members KU including Dr. Harbinder Singh (Hockey Coach), Sheikh Adil (Gym Coach), Surjeet Kour (Sports Assistant) and Anees Ahmed Bhat (Invited Coach) under whose guidance and expertise the contingent team was prepared to participate in this prestigious competition.

Recently winning Gold in the All India Inter University cricket tournament was also a moment of pride for the whole of India. Dr. Sekhon also expressed gratitude to the Managing Committee Members, including Dr. Harbinder Singh, Hockey Coach, Sheikh Adil, Gymnasium Coach, Surjeet Kour and Anees Ahmed Bhat from the J&K Qwan Ki Do Association, whose expertise and guidance were invaluable in preparing the team for this prestigious competition
Dr. Davinder Singh Dhull, President of Shri Jagdishprasad Jhabarmal of Tibrewala University in Chudela, Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan lauded the exceptional performance of the players from Kashmir University, particularly their victory against international opponents. Dr. Dhull commended the dedication of Surjeet Kour, Sports Assistant, for her consistent presence during matches to provide guidance and encouragement to the players.
