JAMMU, Dec 22: Kashmiri Pandit Sabha organized an impressive function to provide scholarships to needy children in its premises at Kashyap Niwas, Amphalla, here.
As part of Sabha’s endeavour to provide succor to distressed people, 65 deserving boys and girls were given scholarships on the occasion.
Surinder Ambardar, Member Legislative Council J&K was the chief guest on the occasion, while president of Sabha KK Khosa presided over the function.
Earlier, S K Bagati, general secretary of the Sabha presented brief report of Sabha’s scholarship programme for the welfare of the community.
Mr Khosa gave a brief resume about the need of such programmes and role of education in shaping the future of community children.
He said that the time is ripe to see students having holistic view of different educational streams and opt for different fields other than Engineering.
Surinder Ambardar while lavishing praise on the organizers for initiating such programmes, stressed them alongwith the parents to teach mother tongue to the youngsters in order to preserve cultural heritage.
He said education is manifestation of one’s true self and culture is the symbol of existence of a race.
He urged the Sabha president to arrange programmes on Kashmiri language for the students of KP Community.
