Kohli tops T20 chart for 50-plus stands

HYDERABAD, May 22: Modern T20 cricket continues to be shaped by elite batting consistency, record-breaking partnerships and high-scoring encounters, with multiple statistical landmarks emerging across international and IPL action.
Leading the global chart for batsmen involved in the most 50-plus partnerships in Men’s T20 cricket is India’s Virat Kohli with 211 such stands, followed closely by England’s Alex Hales on 210. Australia’s David Warner is third with 200, former Pakistan skipper Babar Azam fourth with 196, and West Indies great Chris Gayle completing the top five with 191.
In parallel IPL form trends, stats highlight India batsman Ishan Kishan’s remarkable consistency against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), with scores of 69, 94*, 80 and 79 in his last four innings, including today’s knock.
His form came in a high-scoring context as Sunrisers Hyderabad posted 255/4, which stands as their second-highest total against RCB in IPL history, behind their 287/3 at Bengaluru in 2024.
The broader IPL scoring trends underline the frequency of big totals, with the most 250-plus team scores recorded by Sunrisers Hyderabad (6), followed by Punjab Kings (Punjab Kings) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (Royal Challengers Bengaluru) at 3 each, Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders at 2 each, and Lucknow Super Giants with 1.
Bowling struggles in high-scoring seasons are also evident, with most instances of a bowler conceding 50-plus runs in an IPL innings led jointly by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami at nine each, followed by Mohammed Siraj with eight. (UNI)
The trend extends to collective bowling attacks as well, with most bowlers conceding 50-plus runs in a single IPL innings recorded four times in RCB vs SRH at Bengaluru in 2024, followed by three instances each in DC vs SRH (Delhi, 2024), RR vs SRH (Hyderabad, 2025), and RCB vs SRH (Hyderabad, 2026).
Despite the high-scoring nature of modern IPL cricket, SRH maintain a flawless record while defending 220-plus targets, winning all 11 matches without a defeat, highlighting their dominance in extreme scoring conditions.
